Fines
When you are arrested for a DUI, you are taken to jail and processed. If you are convicted
of a DUI, you will pay a fine and may be required to perform public service work. The realities
of DUI convictions are that police agencies are using the revenue from the DUI fines to support their budget.
DUI fines are a massive money making operation for the arresting agencies. The fines are significantly
higher than virtually any other criminal offense. These fines will be required to be paid in a certain
time period, and if you fail, you can be resentenced upon the original DUI charge.
In addition to steep fines, the judge may order you to perform public service or community service.
This requires you to perform certain tasks without pay for not-for-profit entity or at the direction of
a police agency. You will be required to perform this service within a time period.
Many of us are busy in our lives and will have difficult time performing this requirement. Your local DUI attorney
will have the familiar with the judges, prosecutors and the local court procedures. Your local DUI attorney will
use his experience to navigate these dangerous times to attempt to lessen the impact from this DUI charge.
